For this project I thought I'd start off by looking at some illustration I'm interested in, in order to draw some inspiration from different styles.
McBess is a French illustrator living in London. His style is a mix of influences such as Fleischer Studios' old cartoons he actualizes by using contemporary shapes, symbols and types. Mcbess drawings often represent himself at the center of a surrealist world filled with food and musical references, such as amps, guitars and records. He's also a musician in the band "The Dead Pirates".
I really like his style, I think it's unique and I love the way he uses contrast to create bold eye catching images by only using black and white. I also like he hand-drawn nature of his illustrations as they have a quirky humorous feel to them I think. Obviously the subject matter is quite playful and imaginative as well. I'm a fan of vintage looking design and typography that appears very inky.
